CABLE DRUM JACK OPERATING METHOD

The operation of the hydraulic cable drum lifting jack is simple and controlled. The spindle is first inserted through the bore of the cable drum. The roller blocks on each lifting tower are then adjusted to the required height to properly support the spindle. The cable drum is subsequently lifted by hydraulic jacks on each tower. Once the cable drum is lifted approximately 6 inches above the ground, the blocks are secured in position using locking pins. This transfers the load from the hydraulic jacks to mechanical supports, reducing continuous hydraulic pressure on the jacks during cable unwinding.

The same operating method is followed for screw type cable drum jack units, but the difference is that the cable drum is lifted manually using a screw mechanism. This design is mostly preferred for medium duty cable drums and offers a simple, reliable and economical solution for cable drum handling operations.
